Subscribe to the monthly Nordic SAS User Newsletter

What a difference a month makes! We hope you are all doing well in these uncertain times. Given the global disruption of COVID-19, we want to be sensitive to the pressing concerns and priorities facing our community. This month’s newsletter has some important updates for you that usually attend SAS Users Groups, communities, and events, and leverage our Support functions.

Virtual events as an alternative
SAS Institute has decided to move or cancel all SAS Live events worldwide until June 30th. This has an impact on the FANS Network meetings until summer along with our Local SAS Forums and SAS Global Forum.

As we want to continue sharing knowledge, updates, and experiences with you, listening to you and engage in discussions, we have decided to move as many meetings as possible into Virtual events. We have also added new ones. You find them all under the "All Live Events" tab. We hope you will join these until things stabilize. Everyone is welcome to join.

You can see the changes by-country and sign-up on via the FANS pages. PS! You can always join a Virtual Network meeting in another Nordic country as these topics could be relevant to you, however, they are mostly in local languages.

You can also register for the Live Webinars or watch the recordings of  the latest by scrolling down the page.

Business Continuity
We would also like to inform that SAS has a robust Business Continuity Management in place and that none of SAS´s critical supply chain, logistics arrangements or facilities are affected. Our commitment to supporting you, our customers and partners, remains consistent. Technical support, communities, and all other contact channels are still staffed and fully operational. We have also opened up a Nordic SAS Hotline for you. Read more below.

If you have any questions or ideas, please get in touch.

Stay healthy!

SAS Global Forum Virtual Event

Given the global disruption of COVID-19, we will postpone the Virtual SAS Global Forum and give you an update as soon as possible with new dates.

SAS® Global Forum is a celebration of how our customers and partners do great things with SAS. We have worked together to design a virtual program that will inspire our SAS community – and we are excited to share more details soon. In the meantime, feel free to check our website for updates as they become available. You can also register to get updates.

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact, both personal and work-related, SAS Nordics is opening a Hotline where you can ask questions to SAS Experts, and get professional feedback quickly.

What´s on your mind? Any challenges and issues you need help to solve? Any concerns?

Contact us through the Hotline which will be open every day from 9.00-10.00 CET (Finland 10.00-11.00), through Microsoft Teams.

We will answer questions regarding the following SAS tools/software:

  • SAS® Data Management - Tuesdays
  • SAS® Enterprise Guide - Wednesdays
  • SAS® Programming - Thursdays
  • SAS® Analytics - Fridays

To ask questions, use this link to connect directly to our meeting in Microsoft Teams during the opening hours.

Questions outside opening hours?

If you have questions outside our opening hours, you can always post your question(s) in the Q&A section on our Nordic SAS Community Site, and we will follow up shortly. Please tag your question with #hotline.

Another SAS Tip for You

Another SAS Tip for You

This month the FANS and SAS User Tip baton is passed on and provided by Daniel Ringqvist, the User Group Manager in Sweden:

Did you know SAS® Base can execute Python code?

Starting with May 2019 release of SAS 9.4M6, the PROC FCMP procedure added support for submitting and executing functions written in Python from within a SAS session using the new Python object. Proc FCMP is where you create your own SAS functions, and this alone is a brilliant way of cleaning up your code.
