About the experts


Meg Schaeffer

Global Health Advisor, Epidemiologist, SAS

Dr. Meg Schaeffer, EdD, MPH, MPA, has spent over 20 years working in government on outbreaks from botulism to Influenza A (H1N1) and SARS-CoV2. She is a former professor, published author, triathlete and community advocate. Her focus at SAS is on public health modernization within government.


Lisa Lucas

National Health Care Informatics Director, SAS

In addition to her role at SAS, Dr. Lisa Lucas is also a faculty member at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA and Wake Forest University in North Carolina, where she teaches Health Information Management and Healthcare Informatics.

Lucas holds a Bachelor of Science degree from George Mason University, dual master’s degrees in Business Administration and Health Care Management, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from American Sentinel University in Colorado. She also holds certifications in Nursing Informatics, is a Certified Professional in Health Information Management from HIMSS, and is a Certified Nurse Educator.


Brett Davis

Principal Industry Consultant, SAS

Brett has over 20 years of combined experience working in state and federal government, and the private sector, with over 10 years focused specifically on health care. He serves as a Health Care Solutions Manager on SAS’ U.S. Government Health Care Consulting team and is responsible for providing subject matter expertise related to State Medicaid Agencies and Managed Care Plans.
