Kristi Boyd

Senior Trustworthy AI Specialist, SAS

In her role, Kristi Boyd supports SAS' responsible innovation and trustworthy AI strategy. Boyd's expertise as an AI ethicist is enhanced by her international business and technology ethics degrees, CIPT certification and experience in QA and product management. She regularly speaks on AI ethics and governance and has contributed to publications through Duke Graduate School, IAPP, EqualAI, ACAMS Today, COSMOS Compliance and SAS.com. Boyd has also contributed research to the Engagement, Education and Inclusion Working Group for the National AI Advisory Committee (NAIAC) under Reggie Townsend's supervision. Her publications cover practical data management, frameworks for responsible innovation, financial services and crimes, HR tech, health care, life sciences, and national security implications of AI.


Steven Tiell

Global Head of AI Governance Advisory, SAS

Steven Tiell helps SAS Institute customers adopt and integrate AI governance, accelerating innovation. He is a pioneer in data ethics and AI governance. In 2018, Tiell coined the term “Responsible Innovation” for AI when he founded Accenture’s global Data Ethics and Responsible Innovation practice, leading AI initiatives at nearly 50 organizations across 10 industries globally. Tiell has published dozens of papers that have advanced the field.

Before SAS, Tiell was Vice President for AI Strategy at DataStax. He holds patents for data trusts, and his leadership is recognized by the Atlantic Council GeoTech Center, where he serves as Nonresident Senior Fellow and by OpenAI, where he is a Forum participant. He’s also held fellowships at the World Economic Forum for both digital trust and metaverse governance. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Engineering and Information Systems and an MBA in Sustainable Management.
