About the Experts


Robert Blanchard, Senior Analytical Training Consultant, SAS

Robert Blanchard researches, consults and teaches machine learning with an emphasis on deep learning and computer vision for SAS. He has authored several professional courses on topics such as neural networks and deep learning. Before joining SAS, Blanchard worked under the senior vice provost at North Carolina State University, where he built models pertaining to student success, faculty development and resource management. Prior to working in academia, he was a member of the research and development group on the Workforce Optimization team at Travelers Insurance. His models at Travelers focused on forecasting and optimizing resources. Blanchard graduated with a master’s degree in business analytics and project management from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in applied and resource economics from East Carolina University.


Andy Ravenna, Principal Technical Training Consultant, SAS

Andy Ravenna has worked at SAS for nearly 30 years. He has happily spent more than 15 of those years in the Education department training customers and writing courses. Over that time, Ravenna has become certified to teach many programming courses in both the core and advanced curriculum; he now focuses on advanced analytics and statistical training. Ravenna has written and delivered several papers at various conferences. He’s not only fluent in SAS programming, but also fluent in English and Spanish. Ravenna holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and a master's degree in applied mathematics (minor in statistics) from North Carolina State University. While there, he taught Algebra and Calculus for three years and received the Maltbie Award for Superior Teaching Ability.
 


Matt Scicchitano, Senior Certification Developer, SAS

Matt Scicchitano is a member of the SAS Global Certification team. He is the primary exam developer for the forecasting and optimization credential and the natural language processing and computer vision using SAS® Viya® credential. He has been working in various roles in the IT certification industry for more than 10 years.
 


Catherine Truxillo, Director of Advanced Analytics Education, SAS

Catherine Truxillo manages a team of statisticians, predictive modelers and data scientists who support SAS® advanced analytics training worldwide. Her team trains students from a variety of industries, including insurance, finance, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, behavioral research, marketing, education and retail. Since beginning her career at SAS in 2000, Truxillo has written or co-written courses for a range of topics in statistics, data science, business communication and leadership in analytics.
