SAS is committed to building a data, AI, and technology-enabled workforce. That’s why we support higher education institutions that deliver programs to close the data and AI skills gap, as well as academic-industry collaborations that help our customers develop a strong data and AI culture.
SAS Talent Connection fosters this ecosystem by building partnerships that integrate industry-relevant, applied data, AI, and technology learning pathways into higher education programs. It also connects our customers with academic partners and emerging talent.

The SAS Academic Specialisation is a distinction granted by SAS to Universities and other higher education institutions that incorporate SAS into their curriculum, requiring a minimum of 150 hours of SAS-related instruction. More information can be found here.

Pradnya Pethkar is a Data Scientist. Graduating from Auckland University of Technology with a Master of Analytics, Pradnya also earnt a SAS® Certified Advanced Analytics Professional credential while studying.

Tzuwei Tsai & Milica Gallardo Petkovich
Graduates of the University of Canberra
University of Canberra students Milica Gallardo Petkovich and Tzuwei Tsai participated in the SAS-sponsored Industry Project Program, to develop a data-driven home loan origination models to help banks attract reliable borrowers.
They collaborated with academic mentors and industry professionals, gaining hands-on experience with SAS Viya®, learning how complex business problems can be solved with data, AI and technology.
Tzuwei noted how the SAS Viya® provided an intuitive interface and automatic recommendations, that made gaining business insights quicker. Milica commented on the ability to test multiple models both quickly and simultaneously.
The result being, analytic driven profiles that identified borrowers at higher risk of default. Helping stakeholders better understand business risk.
