"SAS helps us evaluate how well we are achieving our goal of breaking the cycle of criminality."

The UK Ministry of Justice (MOJ) is under immense pressure to deliver substantial cost savings and performance improvements by 2015.
To achieve these objectives, the department must add another priority to the list: to develop a deeper, broader knowledge. It needs to know how an offender has behaved in the past and why; the likelihood of them reoffending; and how to prevent that happening. And, across all operations, it must identify inefficient processes and the best ways to streamline services.
Fortunately, the MOJ has a wealth of internal and external data at its disposal, and is already using analytics to explore that data and transform it into the valuable knowledge it needs.
