On average, we make more than 35,000 decisions per day. Every decision impacts our lives directly or indirectly in either significant or minor ways. When pressure is applied our decisions become more complex and challenging.

As organisations digitally transform, data and analytically driven decisions become the critical differentiator. We can drive thousands of decisions a second without human intervention or we can augment human decision making with analytical insight. In this session we will hear the experience of using real data and intelligence in decision-making in high pressured environments from Major General (Retired) Nicholas Ashmore.

Follow by a discussion with Dr Laurie Miles, Senior Director for SAS UKI on how the evolution of data and advanced analytics has changed the way organisations make decisions, and the questions we are asking ourselves today. Major General (Retired) Nick Ashmore CB OBE

In this presentation Nick will talk about his experience during 34 years of Army and Military career. How transforming data into actionable intelligence help him to make decisions which influences the world’s perception of the UK. He will share sensitive and personal information bringing his story of the British Army to life. As the leader of the Army Basing Plan, Nick was responsible for returning 20,000 British Army Personnel (and their families) back from Germany to the UK; Nick will share insights as to the type of data Defence Ministers need to be provided with in order to make decisions involving a £1.8Bn investment to fund the modern shape of the British Army.
