SAS Users Groups provide an excellent opportunity to meet other SAS users, share knowledge and experience, and learn more about SAS solutions from colleagues, peers and SAS professionals. Whether you're a seasoned SAS software user with experiences to share or a newcomer who'd like to interact with other users, a users group is an excellent way to help you get the most value from your SAS technology. Users groups offer a unique opportunity to:

  • Get an immediate return on your time investment. You can apply the techniques and skills you've learned as soon as you return to work.
  • Learn what's worked from other users and SAS professionals dealing with similar challenges
  • Get to know other SAS users and tap into local SAS resources

We look forward to seeing you!

"SAS user groups embody the spirit of sharing and collaboration needed to discover and develop best practices. It is these intrinsic values that make each user group a success." Eric Lacombe, MONSUG President

Topic Exploration Using SAS Visual Text Analytics
Jakob Koziel, Bissell Centre

Bissell Center is a nonprofit that works towards eliminating poverty in Edmonton, Canada. Our staff routinely tracks the progress community members make to understand the impact of Bissell Centre’s efforts. Our principal evaluation is focused on the six domains of the self-sufficiency matrix (SSM) - housing, support, employment, finance, physical health, and mental health. However, given the nature of our programs and the sheer volume of participants, a lot of the data we gather is qualitative and cannot be comprehensively assessed using traditional methods. This is particularly the issue with the case notes that our staff complete. This presentation will demonstrate how we utilized the SAS Viya platform to classify thousands of case notes into topics. This activity helped us identify topics and assess whether the domains we assess (housing, support, employment, finance, physical health, and mental health) are sufficient.
