SAS again among top 100 Best Places to Work in IT (Computerworld)
Analytics leader listed in top 10 for benefits
IT employees thrive on challenge, hungry to sink their teeth into state-of-the-art technology and wide-ranging projects. SAS, which regularly encourages staff to shift to new and uncharted assignments, has been recognized again for providing the kind of environment top IT professionals seek. The analytics leader is among Computerworld’s top 100 Best Places to Work in IT, ranking in the top 10 for benefits. Computerworld annually recognizes companies that offer challenging work, competitive salaries and great benefits to IT workers.
SAS’ IT team supports productivity across the enterprise. Keeping staff engaged and excited is at the core of supporting innovation for the entire company, which recently celebrated 40 years of consecutive growth and profitability. A boon for those seeking continuous learning, SAS’ “digitize the business” initiatives energize IT workers, creating opportunities to work with cutting edge frameworks and methodologies.
SAS’ long-recognized commitment to culture contributes to high retention rates and satisfaction. In addition to exceptional benefits, SAS amenities include free onsite healthcare, subsidized daycare, a free recreation and fitness center and subsidized gourmet cafes.
SAS Chief Information Officer Keith Collins likens SAS to a towering oak, with IT as its roots. “At the same time the oaks are reaching for the sky, they are completely dependent on having a solid root system to feed and drive the growth,” he observed. “That us. That’s IT providing a solid technology foundation providing the strength for SAS to grow.”
To identify the top 100 workplaces for IT, Computerworld surveyed 461 qualifying companies about salaries and benefits, retention, diversity and other employment statistics and programs. Separately, researchers surveyed a random sample of participating companies’ IT staff. The employee survey inquired about satisfaction with training and development, compensation, benefits and work/life balance. Employees also rated morale in their organizations.
"The organizations on this year’s Best Places to Work in IT list excel at creating a dynamic and satisfying IT work environment,” says Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. “In a competitive market for tech talent, these outstanding employers are able to attract highly skilled IT pros by offering great benefits, new learning opportunities, access to cutting-edge technologies and challenging, business-critical projects.”
“I am proud that we are on this list and hope that you are too,” Collins concluded, in an internal podcast to his team. “Thank you to all who participated in the survey.”
