SAS® receives 2 out of 3 highest product scores in Gartner Critical Capabilities for Advanced Analytics Platforms
SAS scored highest in two of three advanced analytics platforms use cases, Large Data Science Teams and Citizen Data Scientists as defined by Gartner Inc. researchers, and second highest score for a third use case Small to Midsize Data Science Teams, according to Gartner’s February 2016 “Critical Capabilities for Advanced Analytic Platforms” report.
Looking at the organizations who have invested in advanced analytics platforms to become more successful , industry researchers at Gartner defined three use cases: large data science, small to mid-size data science and citizen data science environments.
With a top possible score of 5.0, SAS recieved the highest score in large data science environments with a score of 4.37. SAS likewise scored highest for citizen data science applications at 4.12. For small to midsize data science use cases, SAS scored second in the field of 16 advanced analytics providers at 4.20.
“Our customers choose SAS Analytics for their breadth and depth, scalability, wide applicability and broad access to many data types,” said Sascha Schubert. SAS Analytics Marketing Director. “Our customers also cite model management and data management as major factors in choosing SAS. These differentiators are what set our technology apart from the pack.”
A companion to Gartner’s February 2016 “Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms” report, the new research aims to help an organization chose the technology best suited to its needs.
Gartner defines advanced analytics as analysis of all kinds of data using methods such as statistics, descriptive and predictive data mining, machine learning, simulation and optimization to find insights that traditional approaches to business intelligence including traditional query and reporting can’t.
The SAS products evaluated in the Gartner report included structured and unstructured analytics, decision management, visualization and data management offerings, with an emphasis on SAS Enterprise Miner, SAS Factory Miner, and SAS Visual Statistics.
