Modern statewide longitudinal data systems (SLDS) that meets the needs of students and their communities are an essential part of a strong educational framework. As governments move through the various stages of modernization, new questions and challenges will arise. A phased and iterative approach enables governments to continuously revisit the core purpose of the SLDS, to enhance and expand capabilities to meet various stakeholders’ needs, and to ensure that policies, programs and decisions are driving toward an excellent academic experience for every student.
