In today’s complex financial landscape, the persistent threat of financial crimes casts a formidable shadow over economic stability and trust. As businesses continue to harness the power of new technologies for operational efficiency, criminals also evolve their methods, requiring robust countermeasures.
Treezor, the European Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) leader, enhanced its anti-money laundering and fraud surveillance capabilities by deploying a modern AI-based platform designed and developed in collaboration with SAS.
Founded in 2016 by two French entrepreneurs, Treezor is a pioneer in the BaaS sector. Today the electronic money institution operates in 25 countries and is a principal member of the Mastercard network. Its API platform integrates technological, regulatory and security aspects into its offering to cover the entire payment chain, from receiving to issuing. With more than 100 customers made up of fintechs and large businesses, Treezor has processed more than €58 billion in transactions and issued more than 4.6 million payment cards.

Improving detection accuracy for AML/CFT and fraud risks
Treezor worked with SAS to implement a modern AI-based platform for monitoring transaction compliance, aiming to ensure systematic coverage of anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) and fraud risks.
To optimize its risk detection accuracy for AML/CFT, Treezor implemented SAS Anti-Money Laundering, giving investigators an integrated, configurable, user-friendly alert and case management solution. Alerts are prioritized by level of risk and network analysis, which makes it possible to visually connect information relating to a client, their account, their transactions and more.
“Treezor plays a pivotal role in AML/CFT vigilance by reinforcing its monitoring capabilities, offering security to its customers and their end customers,” says Adin Buhks, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Treezor. “We are the first BaaS player to partner with SAS, who helped us implement a state-of-the-art solution in a tight time frame. Our AML analysts quickly adapted to the new solution, and the network capabilities are a game changer.”
All teams, from compliance managers to analysts, collaborate on a single platform – powered by SAS Viya – with a precise audit trail. Its advanced analytics capabilities allow alerts to be sorted according to risk level by calibrating scenarios and developing segmentation models, further enhancing the efficiency of Treezor’s AML/CFT framework.
“The adoption of analytics right from the design stage makes Treezor’s Transaction Monitoring System unique in the French market,” adds Florence Giuliano, EMEA Financial Crimes Analytics Director at SAS. “The close collaboration and efficient communication between Treezor and SAS were major contributing factors leading to the successful implementation.”
